BLOODY MARY 2006

The Bloody Mary Pursuit Race will be held on Saturday 7th January 2006 at Queen Mary Sailing Club. With over 300 boats typically taking part, ranging from Toppers to International Fourteens, this is a 'not-to-be-missed' event. The Club hopes that some of you will be able to make the trek to South-West London and represent us. Alternatively its a fantastic spectacle to watch as the 14s, RS800 and 49ers rev up on the start line while the rest of the fleet chugs off, and then blast through causing mayhem at every mark. Have you ever tried to deny a charging Fourteen room at the mark? Its scary! Can the slower boats hold on to their lead or will the hounds catch and overtake?

Further details can be obtained from www.queenmary.org.uk

YOGA CLASSES

Mary Bridge is organising Yoga classes after Christmas. These will take place on Thursday evenings in the Clubhouse starting on January 5th. The dates thereafter are:

* Thursday January 12th, 19th, 26th and
* February 2nd and 9th.

These are open to all Club members and guests are welcome subject to the usual guest restrictions. The price is just £36 for a 6 week taster course.

Who knows; if its a success Mary might be prepared to make it a regular feature.

To confirm a place, and shed some of the weight you put on over Christmas, just give Mary a call. Her number's in the Members Handbook.

ICE WATCH

We are coming up to the time of year when the pond can freeze overnight. All Members are asked to keep an eye on the ice situation and let Jane or I know if the pond freezes (Telephone 01420 563935 or 07790 492669). If it does I will immediately Post a warning. Equally please let me know as soon as the pond thaws and I will let people know.

We hope you all have a nice day and that Santa brings you that Farr 40 you've always craved for - plus the funds to run it! As you will not be able to race it at Frensham I hope you've also been good enough to justify a marina berth on the Hamble, and that you will still come back and sail your dinghy with us from time to time.

BOXING DAY

To help you all work off the Turkey we've organised a packed programme for you.

At 1112 am we have the Pursuit Race for the KEENE CUP. And if you're not sailing, why not join the rest of us for a brisk walk around the pond?

This is followed by the Summer Prize Giving at 13:00. The Bar will be open, and John W has kindly agreed to serve up hot mince-pies and mulled wine from the Galley. Please come and join us and pick up your silverware.
